What Are Signal Runes?
Signal Runes are consumable resources that power your signal spells. Each spell requires a specific tier of rune, and every cast consumes runes from your inventory. Without runes, you fall back to basic melee attacks.
Obtaining Runes
Runes come from two sources: inscribing them at Signal Altars found in every wilderness zone, or as rare drops from defeated monsters. Higher-tier zones produce higher-tier runes.
Signal Altars
Each wilderness zone has a permanent Signal Altar — a glowing Architect structure where you can meditate to inscribe signal data into runes. The process consumes one signal data per inscription and produces several runes. Your Signal Runes skill level determines success rate and yield.
The Spellbook
Open the Skills page to access the Spellbook. Select a signal spell to make it your active spell. Your Signal skill level determines which spells are available — stronger spells unlock at higher levels and consume rarer runes.
Rune Costs
Lower-tier spells are cheap — one rune per cast. Higher-tier spells consume more runes but deal significantly more damage. Plan your rune supply based on how long you intend to fight.
Running Out of Runes
If you run out of runes during combat, you automatically switch to melee attacks using your staff as a physical weapon. This applies to AFK and offline combat as well — the engine tracks your rune supply and switches when depleted.
