What They Are
Combat Protocols are custom automation scripts for your nomad. Each protocol contains a set of conditional rules. WHEN a condition is met, THEN perform an action. Protocols execute automatically during combat, giving you fine-grained control over how your nomad fights without manual intervention every round.
Rules
Each rule has three parts: a WHEN condition (e.g. "My health drops below 50%"), a THEN action (e.g. "Use Roast Glowminnow"), and a LIMIT on how many times it fires per fight. Rules are evaluated top-to-bottom every round. The first rule whose condition matches is executed. Rule order matters: put your most critical actions at the top.
Conditions
Available conditions include: health thresholds (yours or the enemy's), specific combat round numbers, shield status checks, and "always" for unconditional actions. Health conditions use percentages. "My health drops below 40%" triggers when your HP falls below 40% of your maximum, regardless of level or gear.
Actions
Three action types are available. "Use Consumable" activates a healing item or buff from your inventory. The item is consumed permanently. "Force Skill" overrides the AI skill selection and uses a specific equipped skill instead. "Break Shard" consumes a shard for its temporary stat bonus.
Pre-Combat vs In-Combat
Rules run in one of two phases. Pre-combat rules execute before the fight begins. Ideal for applying buffs, breaking shards, or using preparation items. In-combat rules evaluate each round during the fight. Use these for reactive healing and skill forcing based on combat state.
Templates
Four pre-built protocol templates are included: Survival (emergency healing), Grinder (farming optimization), Conduit Protocol (tower-focused), and Finisher (execute low-health enemies). Clone any template to create a customizable copy, then modify the rules to fit your build and playstyle.
Managing Protocols
Open Combat Protocols from the side menu to create, edit, clone, and activate protocols. Only one protocol can be active at a time. It applies to both wilderness fights and Conduit runs.
Your first protocol slot is free. Additional slots cost increasingly more scrap. A good investment once you want specialized setups for different scenarios, like a cautious healing protocol for the tower and an aggressive damage protocol for farming.
Tips
Keep your inventory stocked with the consumables your protocol references. If an item runs out, its rule silently skips. Set appropriate limits on healing rules to avoid burning through your entire supply in a single fight. Disable rules you are not currently using rather than deleting them.
