What Are Lifeskills?

Lifeskills are passive resource-production systems that run even while you fight, explore, or close the app. Visit Syl the Surveyor at The Wreck to get started.

Gathering skills produce raw materials, while crafting skills turn those materials into equipment, consumables, food, and shards.

How Resources Chain Together

Raw materials feed crafting skills. Nothing is a dead end. The main chains:

Ore (Mining) → Smelting → Bars → Forging → Weapons & Armor

Biostock (BioHarvest) → Synthesis → Potions & Tonics

Fish (Fishing) → Cooking → Food

Biostock (BioHarvest) → Fabrication → Fabric → Robes

Signal Data (Signal Tapping) → Signal Etching → Sigils, Signal Runes

Signal Data (Signal Tapping) → Gem Resonance → Gems & Jewelry

Timber (Woodcutting) → Pyrecraft → Fire effects & smokes

Crafting recipe cards show which skill produces each material so you always know where to look.

Work Orders

Select a lifeskill, pick an action, and start a work order. Your work order runs continuously in the background. Accumulating materials, skill XP, and mastery XP cycle by cycle. Come back and tap Collect whenever you like. Rewards accumulate for up to 12 hours.

Only one work order can be active at a time. Crafting work orders consume materials each cycle and stop automatically when you run out.

Focus

Every 30 minutes you can activate Focus on your active work order. Focus runs a burst of faster cycles that also produce bonus materials. Focused cycles have a small chance to trigger a Discovery. A bonus event that grants extra output and XP on the spot.

Higher mastery slightly increases your discovery chance, so long-term dedication to an action pays off.

Discoveries

Discoveries are random bonus events that can occur during focused cycles. When one triggers, you receive extra yield of whatever you are currently producing plus bonus XP.

Discoveries come in three rarities. Common, uncommon, and rare. Rarer discoveries grant larger bonuses. A floating notification appears when a discovery fires so you can see exactly what you found.

Leveling

Each lifeskill levels from 1 to 99. Higher levels unlock higher-tier actions. Early tiers unlock quickly, while the most advanced materials require significant dedication to reach. Ten resource tiers exist for each type, with the highest tiers producing rare and powerful crafting materials.

Gathering resource nodes in the wilderness also grants lifeskill XP for the matching skill. Experience requirements grow steeply at higher levels, but higher-tier actions reward substantially more XP per cycle to compensate.

Lifeskill Mastery

Every lifeskill action has its own mastery track, leveling from 1 to 99. Mastery XP accumulates each cycle while that action is your active work order. Higher-tier actions grant more mastery XP per cycle. Mastery is permanent. Switching to a different action does not reset your progress.

Mastery Milestones

Reaching certain mastery levels unlocks permanent bonuses for that specific action:

Level 25. Increased yield per cycle. Level 50. Faster cycle time, producing resources more quickly. Level 75. A chance to double your output on each cycle. Level 99. A unique perk.

Welcome Back

When you return after being away, a summary screen shows how long you were gone and previews your pending lifeskill output. Cycles completed, materials produced, and XP earned. Visit Syl to collect your rewards.
