Weapon Proficiency

Each class excels with specific weapon types and off-hand styles.

How Proficiency Works

Each class is proficient with certain weapon categories. Equipping a proficient weapon grants +15% damage. Check your Combat Stats on the Nomad tab — proficient categories glow green when active.

Weapon Categories

Blades — Swords and edges. Balanced physical weapons. Heavy — Cleavers and hammers. Slow but high damage. Daggers — Shivs and knives. Fast with high crit chance. Ranged — Bows, launchers, repeaters. Staves — Two-handed magic weapons. Scale with Intelligence. Catalysts — One-handed magic conduits. Scale with Intelligence. Tomes — Off-hand books that boost magic damage.

Class Proficiencies

Bulwark — Blades, Heavy. Prefers shield (+15% block chance). Drifter — Daggers, Ranged. Prefers dual-wield (+10% attack speed). Signalborn — Staves, Catalysts. Prefers tomes (+20% magic damage from tomes). Oathkeeper — Blades, Catalysts. Prefers shield (+15% block chance). Flayer — Heavy, Blades. Prefers two-handed (+10% damage with 2H weapons).

Magic Weapons

Staves and catalysts are magic weapons — they scale damage with Intelligence instead of Strength, ignore 40% of enemy armor, and gain bonus crit and accuracy from Intelligence. A Signalborn with a catalyst and tome is fundamentally different from one swinging a blade.
