Equipment
Equipment Tiers
How the eight equipment tiers work and where to find each one.
Eight Tiers
All equipment belongs to one of eight tiers, each tied to a zone. Higher tier always means stronger gear — no ambiguity. Tier 1 Scrap gear comes from the Sporeveld, Tier 2 Composite from the Miasma Flats, Tier 3 Resonant from the Resonance Caves, Tier 4 Crucible from the Crucible, Tier 5 Pale from the Pale Reaches, Tier 6 Void from the Shattered Expanse, Tier 7 Abyssal from the Abyssal Veins, and Tier 8 Apex from the Signal Apex.
Deterministic Stats
Every tiered item has fixed stats. A Crucible Helm always has the same armor and bonuses — no random rolls, no variance. Same name, same stats, every time. The only way to push an item beyond its base power is through Enhancement.
Where Gear Drops
Monsters in each zone drop that zone's tier of equipment. Elite and miniboss monsters have a small chance of dropping gear one tier higher. Merchants stock their zone's tier plus the previous tier. Salvage crates contain gear from a range of tiers depending on the crate quality and your roll.
Legendaries
Legendary items exist outside the tier system entirely. They drop from zone bosses, tower milestones, and natural 20 crate rolls. They are never sold by merchants and never drop from regular monsters.
