The Early Gathering Loop

Gather resource deposits, craft Spore Tonics, and grind without stopping to heal.

Why This Matters

Every time you die or run out of HP mid-grind you lose scrap, lose XP, and break your kill streak. Buying heals from vendors is expensive and cuts into your economy. The solution is to make your own: craft Spore Tonics from the Biosynth discipline and automate them through your Combat Protocol.

Step 1: Hit the Deposit Tiles

Before grinding monsters, clear the resource deposit tiles in your zone first — they are marked with a pickaxe icon. Each deposit yields 2-3 Sporeveld organic compounds: Spore Fiber, Bioluminescent Sap, and Mycelium Extract are the key Biosynth materials in early zones. Deposits respawn on a 2-7 minute cooldown, so loop back to them between monster runs.

Step 2: Craft Spore Tonics

Visit Syl the Surveyor at The Wreck. Start a Biosynth work order for Spore Tonics — they cost common organic materials and craft passively over time. Stock up before each session. They are single-use, so having 5-10 on hand means you can sustain through a full kill streak without relying on Doc Caelum.

Step 3: Set Your Protocol

Add a rule to your Combat Protocol: WHEN my health drops below 50%, THEN use Spore Tonic, LIMIT once per fight. This fires automatically in combat, keeping you alive without any manual input. Set the threshold high enough that the tonic actually saves you — 50% is safer than 30% in early zones.

The Payoff

With a self-sustaining heal in your protocol you can grind deposit tiles between fights, never need to port back to a vendor, and let your kill streak compound uninterrupted. This loop is the difference between grinding for 10 minutes and grinding for an hour on a single streak.
